High-Tensile Formwork Ties & Structural Hardware
Certified 15mm and 20mm high-tensile threadbars, wing nuts, and anchor cast-ins for reliable structural form holding.
The Heavy Physics of Concrete Ties
Under hydrostatic pressure, formwork panels want to push apart. Standard hardware-store threaded rod is structurally inadequate and will yield, leading to catastrophic panel blowouts. Slabform supplies genuine high-tensile hot-rolled steel tie rods (commonly known as Dywidag threads) of 15.0mm and 20.0mm nominal diameters, with a characteristic breaking load of up to 190 kN.
Tensile Strength Ratings of Hardware Parts
Certified capacities of our critical tension hardware components based on ASTM and European standards:
| Hardware Part Name | Steel Alloy / Grade | Yield Strength | Minimum Tensile Breaking Load |
|---|---|---|---|
| 15mm Tie Rod / Threadbar | High Tensile C45 / S450 | 90 kN (20,230 lbs) | 140 kN (31,470 lbs) |
| 20mm Tie Rod / Threadbar | High Tensile C45 / S450 | 150 kN (33,720 lbs) | 190 kN (42,710 lbs) |
| 100mm Flange Wing Nut | Ductile Cast Iron QT450 | Compression dynamic check | 90 kN Working Load |
| Water Stop Connector | Ductile Cast with synthetic core | N/A | 140 kN Working Load |
Ductile Cast Wing Nuts vs Welded Nuts
Slabform wing nuts are cast from ductile iron (Grade QT450-10) to prevent brittle fractors under impact loading. We never use cheap welded nuts that can snap under stress. Our wing nuts are designed with a large spherical bearing face, distributing intense tension loads over structural timber walers or steel channel profiles without damaging the equipment.
